10 Ways to Connect with Friends on Zoom
I know! I know! Trust me, I know.
You are at home.
You haven’t had your nails done!
Or hair.
COVID-19 is cramping your style.
You, like me, want a return to some sense of normalcy,
You want to go to the gym.
You want to meet your girls for brunch.
Well, I can’t make COVID-19 go away. We gotta wait this one out, but there is a kick-ass sista leading the charge to develop a vaccine, so let’s cheer her on.
I have also outlined ways that you can socialize with your crew from a distance both during and after COVID-19 when you are traveling the world.
- Bingo Night
A good ‘ole fashion Bingo night. Folks can either make or print their own bingo boards. If people make their Bingo boards, there should be a prize for the most creative.
2. Happy Hour
Have a cocktail special and send all your friends the recipe. It can even be one you created based on where ever in the world you are at the time. Then hop on zoom, cocktail in hand and chat away.
3. Charades
This is an oldie but a goodie. Who doesn’t like a good game of charades? You can even invite people to have their entire family online with them to be a part of their team.
4. Hangman
It is like Wheel of Fortune, except there is no Vanna White. You can even draw the hangman live on zoom.
5. Crafting Nights
Have your crew and you been dying to knit hats or learn to crochet or paint. Do it together LIVE on Zoom.
6. Friends Lunch and Learn Brown Bag
I know you have some super cool friends, so why not spend some time learning about something they are really interested in. They can use this time to pitch a business idea, educate the group about stamp collecting, share their photos with a narrative from a recent trip – the options are endless
7. Movie Night
You know how movie theaters don’t allow you to talk while the movie is playing. Well, this ain’t a movie theater. Why not watch a cult classic film and dress up as the characters.
8. Sing-Alongs
It is always a good time to belt out some songs with friends. You pick the genre. It could be 80s music, or musicals or Backstreet Boys, or Janet or Britney. Send everyone the lyrics in advance and if you have a friend who can play an instrument or two, have them play.
9. Book Club
Gather friends on Zoom to discuss a book or an article or Gigi Hadid’s pregnancy or whatever you feel like discussing.
10. Group Fitness
Hire a personal trainer or fitness instructor and do a group class together on Zoom.
Most of all have fun with your friends and stay connected.
