STAYING FIT AS A DIGITAL NOMAD

I’m a single Black mom traveling the world with my daughter. I have to stay fit, because we are always on the go, I’ve listed below ways that stay fit as a Black digital nomad and busy single mom.

YouTube

I often find quick fitness workouts and stretches on YouTube that are perfect for busy Moms that are Black and abroad but also want to get a good workout in.

Here are a few I use:

On Demand Workouts

There are a ton of them out there, but one of my favs is AKT Go. I love Anna Kaiser and her workouts are fun and get the job done. There are other on-demand workout from most of the major players in the fitness industry like BeachBody and Peloton. Find the one that works for you.

Apps

There are tons of fitness apps out there that you can use on the go. I’m a big fan of the BeachBody, but the Peloton one is great too and there are tons of more. Just do a google search and decide which one you like the best.

Activities

We almost always live near the beach and so we are doing water activities s every day. Whether we are paddle boarding, swimming or playing frisbee on the beach, I’m making sure that I am moving and getting in a good workout. Also the beach is an amazing place to do Yoga in the AM.

Join a Gym

Most gyms offer guest passes or short term memberships. I will often join a gym if they offer programming for children as well. It is also a great way to meet people.

Personal Trainer

One of the great things about most places in the world is the luxuries like personal trainers are much more affordable. I hired a trainer to work with me in my home 3 times a week while I lived in Nigeria.

Running

I hated running until I started running and then I ran over 35 marathons. Running is a great workout, only requires comfortable clothes and a pair of shows and is a fantastic way to explore a city.

You don’t have to be a fast runner and you can do a mix of running/walking to get started. Most cities have active runners group and its also great way to meet people.
